Retrospecs

Temperatures are soaring here in my little village. It a balmy 8 degrees and the winter sun is beaming in through my windows. I have even kicked off my slippers for this joyous occasion and am basking in the tropical glow seeping in from outside. If only I had a pair of sunglasses to fully appreciate the view from my bedroom, and gaze over the sun drenched farmland towards the woods, pondering over whether to wear my thermals or my goose down coat when I eventually venture out. Mind you, I won't need a scarf anymore, it must be nearly Spring! New British label Zanzan have heard the pleas of women all over the country desperately waiting for warmer weather and have answered, with a 70s range of 'purposeful yet pretty' sunglasses to calm our cravings. Channel your inner Twiggy and get your pair now before the rush starts in Spring!

To be Adored

A little glimpse forward into the future. Sun, tea dresses, shoes and socks. Gorgeous brand TBA have hit the nail on the head with their Spring Summer collections for years now. The neutral pastel colours and beautiful girly prints are not far off perfect in the soaring temperatures. And there's always room for a little lace embellishment here and there. For now, the snow is thawingm the temperatures have risen back up above zero and I am left to daydream about warm days to come, sunning myself in Ohio in soft tailoring, boater hats and Ray Ban sunglasses. A girl can dream can't she?

Pleet Please

Another wonderfully Spring like collection, this time by Samantha Pleet, that has my cold little hands and feet yearning for warmer climates. Those oh so joyful tea dresses teamed with perfectly fitting high waisted bikinis are for sure making it into my suitcase for the holidays. Come the sunshine next year, I am most certainly chanelling the sixties beach side look that seems to be doing the rounds at the moment. Bring on the sandals, sunshades and ice creams on the pier.

Aren't you Handsome...

Swimsuits. Every summer an endless battle rages inside me as to whether I should make the jump from bikini to swimsuit. It's a hard decision. Whilst they do provide more coverage of certain unruly body areas you wish for few people to see, they are also definitively hard to pull off unless you are an extra in a rap video, or look like you are about to embark on a professional marathon swim around the holiday pool. My other pet peeve is that come April, the bikini is available in a vast array of styles and prints where as the lowly swimsuit cowers at the back of the store in one size fits all, which more often that not, doesn't. Please, give us a little more to work with. Oh hello 'We Are Handsome', where have you been all my life? This is more like it. Not only would I wear this brazenly on the beach at all times, you can pull them off in town too. This is the future of swimwear, and I'm loving it.

Whiskey Fuels the Soul...

I have a love hate relationship with H&M. When I was younger I would trawl through the shelves on a weekly basis looking for American print t-shirts and skirts with braces on them - but I grew up, and they stayed the same. Try as I might it is only so often I find a little treasure inside, and here is a whole collection of them. Designed for Fashion against AIDS, this range is full of overnight necessities needed for any summer road trip. Festival inspired much like most things at this time of year, but for reasons I can't put my finger on; this collection stands out. I think it might be the tassles...

Grainy Nostalgia...

Finally a lookbook I can afford. Well...at least one I can emulate myself without the need for a money tree. Urban Outfitters are all that is great about summer holidays; straw hats, onesies, dusky evenings, plastic cups and palm trees. Not only that, but I now feel my days in the sun will not be complete without a small portable keyboard.

Holidays are coming...

So I am supposed to be saving for a life affirming road trip along the east coast of Australia with some of my beloved friends; I can totally fit this dress in my backpack right..? It would just look so lovely in our polaroid snapshots by the sea...
