Snowy Streets

When the heavens open and the world becomes covered in a soft white blanket, the temperatures drop to levels only low enough for penguins to enjoy and the need to venture outside of my front door becomes smaller and smaller, I suddenly find myself reassessing my wardrobe to be completely inappropriate for cold weather. My coat does not go with my boots, my cardigans won't fit under my coat and I can't wear enough socks to keep my toes from freezing. If like me, you find yourself not able to set foot outside without becoming Miss Practical, this selection of my favourite street styles this season may be of assistance to you. A little reminder that there is hope at the end of that snow covered winter tunnel.

Polkadots

This season of Exit Magazine features a beeyootiful shoot by Benny Horne with little theme other than the newest must have trend of Winter - polkadot tights. As you well know, I cannot say no to anything that includes copious amounts of chiffon blouses, flowing beaded silks and soft knits. This is one of these occasions, and I'm sold. Entirely. There is never a realistic time to wear transparent clothing, it is completely impractical and quite frankly, a little slutty. Yet within the pages of glossy magazines, it looks absolutely divine. Feast your eyes on some Marc Jacobs and Valentino this cold snowy morning.

Bike Baskets.

Antonella Arismendi is doing some good things for fashion photography right now. Her back catalogue is extensive and I have just spent the best part of an hour swooning over her projects, from dusky motel innocence to beautifully dismal gothic, her versatile talent transcends many genres, which is why, I think, I have a major crush on this lady and her camera right now. All praise the Queen.

Boys to Men

Well looky here. It's not often I post about Menswear but every now and again I come across a collection that compels me to share. I am an avid advocate of guys dressing cool. Trainers and baggy t-shirts are simply not acceptable in my little book, when guy's fashion can be flippin' fantastic! They have as much opportunity as we dolls do for this, there is no excuse nope nope. This is a prime example of how the male race should dress, Mjolk flying the flag for uber cool in the Winter '10 collection.

Pleet Please

Another wonderfully Spring like collection, this time by Samantha Pleet, that has my cold little hands and feet yearning for warmer climates. Those oh so joyful tea dresses teamed with perfectly fitting high waisted bikinis are for sure making it into my suitcase for the holidays. Come the sunshine next year, I am most certainly chanelling the sixties beach side look that seems to be doing the rounds at the moment. Bring on the sandals, sunshades and ice creams on the pier.

The World Spins Madly On

I've been feeling particularly emotional these past few days. I have an inkling it has something to do with the upheaval of my whole life to the other side of the world in a matter of weeks, and possibly that my bestest friend in the whole starry sky is off on amazing adventures over Christmas, and I'm going to miss him terribly over the festive season. Despite all this, I think even in happier climates I would still find this the most beautiful piece of artwork I have ever seen. The technique to produce something so sublimely drawn and produced into such an amazing rotoscope you can barely see the rubings is insanely talented. Not to mention how aptly the song fits. If you are anywhere near as easily moved as me, commence a teary viewing here...

Rouge

I cannot wear red easily, it clashes with my hair. Therefore I tend to avoid coming into contact with it as best I can. There is one time of year where this task becomes harder, and low and behold, tis the season. Faster and faster Red becomes a staple in our Christmas count down, and I have reached a stage where I can no longer turn a blind eye. To ease me in is this gorgeous shoot in Flair, styled by Laura Taccari and shot by Alvaro Beamud Cortes (yes, I think this name is astonishingly fabulous also.) The red is simple, sheer, and teamed with nudes. I am actually finding myself quite drawn to it...

Breathe Me

Starry Signs

I picked up a copy of Vogue UK for my journey to London the other day, and found this beautiful star sign photo shoot. I can't say I've heard much of Tim Gutt before now, but I will be keeping a beady eye out for future work of his as I love love love this fantasy like take on characters who represent your star sign. It's much like the work of Tim Walker, who has long been a hero of mine with a camera. I've picked out a few of the besties for you to feast your eyes on...

Retro Baby

Jeffrey Monterio takes us on a nostalgic trip down 80s lane. In my opinion, there's quite a bit of 'miss', the lurid green prints for example do make me want to run and hide in the safety of Topshop, but here is the selection of 'hits' I am planning on channeling as soon as the sun comes back out...
