A Little bit of Drawing...

Two of my illustrations for my Final Collection at Uni. Sketched with my beloved 'twisty pencil' at about 3am in the morning with a few squiggles of watercolour for good measure.

Eat Me, Drink Me, Wear Me...

Okay so one Disney related post after another might seem a bit much - but I want want want this amazing new Alice in Wonderland bracelet from the Couture range. I have absolutely no idea when, or even what, I would wear this with - but just to have it sitting in my room would make one happy bunny.

Oh Gosh oh golly...

Not only is this a beautiful little illustration by Hannah Muller, it also includes Minnie Mouse ears ♥ I don't know much about this artist, as I think her blog is in Polish, but her drawings are amazingly detailed with great minimal use of colour.

Marchesa - FW Highlights...

New York. Marchesa. There is lace, there is draped organza and french chiffon abound, and most of all there are feathers. I am reeling; how did I miss this?! Granted I was on a jaunt to Croatia for the weekend but this AW10 collection has instantly made it into my top top all time faves. Its just, so, beautiful. Insanely intricate detailing and the most delicately scultped of fabrics that I couldn't even begin to fathom how they were constructed. Inspired by the performer Lola Montez, Marchesa has engulfed the models in fairytale tulle ruffles, shooting star embroidery and circus style tailoring to within an inch of their lives, and I am ever so thankful.

Handbags at Dawn...

I won this little beauty on Ebay a few days ago for a mere £8. It arrived in the post this morning and I love it! Its totally impractical - but you can never have enough vintage arm candy ♥

Louise Goldin - FW Highlights...

Being a knitwear student, Louise Goldin was on my radar the second her yarn clad models debuted her first collection in SS08. I feel quite a strong patriotism towards her as she flies the flag for British knitwear talent and her AW10 collection hasn't left me disappointed. Her satisfyingly technical pieces once again grace the London catwalks, this time influenced by ''space military'' yet developing the shapes she so loves to use. Her quilted geometrical themes interspersed with leather and fur prove that knitwear can not only be the sole fabrication of a whole outfit, but it can also be super flawless and bang on trend...

Under the Sheets...

I must find myself a cream wrought iron bed to drape roses over.

Rural Rendesvous...

Spring 2010 sees Acne launch their first ever lower priced collection line. Johnny Johansson takes inspiration from Neil Young's album 'Harvest Moon' to create a gorgeous set of wardrobe basics that are just itching for road trips and weekends away. My personal favourite has to be the button down grandad style slouch jumper, perfect for throwing over little dresses at dusk.

Have a Disney Day...

For those of you who know me, you'll know I have a teeny tiny obsession with anything Disney related, which I'm sure will pop up on here from time to time. Isn't this just the loveliest picture of It's a Small World you will ever see, I am well overdue another visit...

Let's live on front porches and swing life away...

So here is the first installment of my work as a designer. Inspired, as always, by the Deep South, I wanted my final collection to be romantic and feminine yet be able to hold its own, highlighted with an assortment of other inspirations you need to look closer to find. And so after much blood sweat and tears, it emerged as an amalgamation of ''front porch style'' dresses, cupcake icing colours, antique pocket watches and knight's armour protection for a new breed of fairy tale.

All garments designed and made by me...

Social Signs...

Baptiste Viry's debut jewellery collection is at the top of my wish list this season. Named ''Social Signs'' as each piece represents a symbol or element of recognition on the wearer, the pieces consist of bows and braces, military inspired 'hat necklaces' and watch frame medallions. His designs are full of character yet conceptual too. His work is inspired by time, often a certain era in the past that he can re-interpret into a modern reflection of itself. His interest in combining elements that would have never normally crossed each other makes for fascinating collections. Most importantly though, he has used charismatic little printed bows, which in my eyes is always a winner...

History in Suspension...

There is something I have always found fascinating about abandoned relics of our time. I think it’s the sadness of seeing their past grandeur in tatters combined with the simplicity of how they now stand that I find so incredibly charming. As my first ‘Inspiring’ post I feel it apt to share with you two of my current favourite photographers named Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre who capture the remnants of great monuments idealistically.
‘Ruins are the visible symbols of landmarks of our societies and their changes, small pieces of history in suspension’

So after months of talking about starting a blog for degree purposes I have finally got around to setting myself one up. Having graduated last summer I feel I need a new outlet for my work, thoughts and ideas, and what better place than here. I'm still finding my feet in the world of blogging and I am as of yet still not sure what sort of direction I want this to take. At first I thought I would upload all my work in progress, yet that seems a little one dimensional. Then I thought about making it trend led, with weekly updates of colours and styles etc; but I also want to share my little gems of inspiration with you, so for now I guess it will be a sort of amalgamation of all these things and see where it takes me, and so it has begun...
