The Sounds of Silence...

A breathtakingly simple shoot for Vogue China, featuring ballet style deconstructed pieces from Proenza Schouler, Lanvin and Donna Karen. Needless to say, the amazing talent it takes to design these garments speaks so loudly, there's no call for a backdrop. After a month or so of being terribly uninspired by the runways, this editorial has restored my faith. Trends come and go, but beautifully structured garments will live through every decade. Just look at that corsetry, it couldn't get any prettier.

I've seen a Castle in Wales....

My amazing family crossed the ocean to see me this week, and are now homeward bound, currently hovering somewhere ten thousand feet over sea level. We picniced, we rode bikes, we watched accordian players scatter the cobbled streets of little wooden towns nestled deep in the heart of West Virginia. It was picturesque, and perfect. The week prior to this my best friend, and needless to say, soul mate, and I line danced across the borders of Kentucky and Tennessee, and with our musical roots, discovered Nashville should well have been the town we were born and raised in, cradling banjos and home made harmonicas at our fingertips. I have had the most wonderous past few weeks, and am now back in Ohio, mourning the empty space where my homeland companions once were. I plan on wearing this sad face for the majority of today, and listening mostly to Bon Iver and City and Colour, until I remember that I'm living in America and having the time of my life once more. Until then, please watch this lyrically blessed man play a beautiful guitar. If you need persuasion, he has tattoos on his neck. Things are looking up already.

It's a small world...

It's that time again folks; for a Disney based post. Don't roll your eyes please, it's been a substantial amount of time since my last one. Besides, look at the vintage on this! $2.75 a ticket?! Ah those were the days. I'm having awfully serious withdrawel symptoms from my home away from home so this is my vaccine.
Love le love le love.

Skybird...

Swing chairs, willow trees, suitcases; there are many things I obsess over that most may find ordinary. I seem to be able to find beauty in day to day things. A habit of mine it appears. There is one thing in particular that has evolved ten fold since moving to America. Seeing at least one a day here is only serving to fuel my interest in them. I stand and stare at the sky wide eyed in awe as they glide past, causing my day to happen a lot slower than it would in England with all my stopping and starting. They are birds of prey, and ohhh my, how they're beautiful creatures, so elegant and majestic. Of late, I've managed to simmer the yelps of excitment down to a somewhat less distracting point and stare, but I don't see this obsession ending any time soon. So imagine my happiness when I come across my favourite creatures in a fashion shoot - for Rodarte no less! Oh joy of joy's! Not only that but the images are set in the rugged terrain of Santa Cruz, with memories of River Phoenix, The Lost Boys and Californian Cowboys whistling through the Redwoods. Could this be any more of a perfect editorial...?
