Skybird...

Swing chairs, willow trees, suitcases; there are many things I obsess over that most may find ordinary. I seem to be able to find beauty in day to day things. A habit of mine it appears. There is one thing in particular that has evolved ten fold since moving to America. Seeing at least one a day here is only serving to fuel my interest in them. I stand and stare at the sky wide eyed in awe as they glide past, causing my day to happen a lot slower than it would in England with all my stopping and starting. They are birds of prey, and ohhh my, how they're beautiful creatures, so elegant and majestic. Of late, I've managed to simmer the yelps of excitment down to a somewhat less distracting point and stare, but I don't see this obsession ending any time soon. So imagine my happiness when I come across my favourite creatures in a fashion shoot - for Rodarte no less! Oh joy of joy's! Not only that but the images are set in the rugged terrain of Santa Cruz, with memories of River Phoenix, The Lost Boys and Californian Cowboys whistling through the Redwoods. Could this be any more of a perfect editorial...?

Oh my, what big eyes you have...

We've all done it. Being allowed to try on Grandma's dresses when you were little, or you Mother's shoes as she's getting ready to go out. You swish the skirts, button up the blouses, shuffle along in high heels and stand in front of the mirror looking utterly ridiculous, but to yourself, you are an adult. A glamorous one at that. Finding a suitcase full of old Biba dresses in your Grandparent's attic, rifling through vintage clothes in wardrobes that you bought yourself for oodles more money, seeing the most amazing accessories stuffed in a dusty cuboard - it happens to us all the time. Fashion chases circles, a fascinating yet frustrating whirlwind to be a part of. This shoot by Jeff Bark entitled 'Lost in Grandma's Closet' features some of Ellie Saab, Jason Wu and Jil Sander's most dreamy imaginings. I'm amost positive that you will see yourself as a ten year old girl in at least one of these wonderous images - I sure did...

Roadtrippin'

Kelley Ash just oozes super cool radness in this shoot by Graham Dunn, all taken through polaroid insta-cameras. Oh how I yearn to visit Cali now I'm here, I can feel the warm breeze, surfboards and walks on the beach a' calling me. I have quite a few places already mapped out to visit within the next year, and the West Coast is most definately one of them, especially as my bestie is moving there in less than a week. I have no excuse I hear you cry. Ah well, go on then, if you insist...

Absent without Leave...

Good Golly Miss Molly - I have been a terrible blogger person.. I have not posted anything lovely in little more than 4 months. A time scale I can barely believe, as for all this time I have not been writing away, I have been living in America, and blimey how this quarter of a year has flown. I am positively in shock. So I did it fellow bloggers, I made the jump. I got onto a plane and moved to America. The bright lights, 24 hour convienience stores and drive through ATM's have taken me in a whirlwind of emigration to the other side of the world. It is only now that I am beginning to feel settled, having filled up my house with vintage furniture, British Bunting and quaint floral crockery I am feeling rather at home here! The people are friendly, the weather is hot (occasionally. I've been told considering we seem to be experiencing the worst springtime ever) and the life is good. Very merrily good. And so, it is with much excitement that I finally get around to posting something for the first time from across the pond! A sign of things to come, I brownie promise, I won't abandon you for this length of time ever again little blog. Unless of course, somewhere in the distant future I decide once more to up sticks and move to a far flung corner of the world. Until then, normal blogging procedure will proceed. Keep calm and carry on...
